5 Steps to a Perfect Lodge Retreat for Couples

When it comes to planning a lodge holiday for two, choosing the location is usually just the beginning. Here’s our five steps to follow when it comes to taking a lodge vacation with your significant other…

1. First Impressions

There’s nothing worse than opening the doors to your accommodation to be greeted with something that couldn’t be further from what you saw in the promotional photos. So, step one is to check reviews and nip onto TripAdvisor to get a better idea of exactly what you’re booking, ensuring there can be no disappointment on the big day.

2. A Little Luxury

Immediately after the first impression comes the finer detail. And what better way to continue that momentum than by indulging your loved one in a couple of treats? A box of chocs or a bottle of Prosecco as a welcome gift could put that glint in your partner’s eye. Beyond that, you could even make that special request to your lodge park management for a couple of swan-shaped towels on the bed!

3. Plan Ahead

It‘s no good having the perfect accommodation if you haven’t planned the perfect holiday and a huge part of this is doing your research before you head out. Even if you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, it helps to know where the nearest shops are to make sure you aren’t left without the essentials. And if your holiday is all about exploring, your lodge park will typically be able to provide you with first-hand tips on where to find hidden treasures and romantic, picturesque walks.

4. Taste the Local Cuisine

When it comes to food we can be creatures of habit, perhaps turning to our favourite local eateries on a typical date night and rarely taking a punt on somewhere new unless we hear a glowing review from a friend or colleague. Your trip away could be your chance to buck the trend and try something you’ve literally never tried before, and it could be as simple as sampling local meats, cheeses or other ingredients as a part of an otherwise standard meal. Checking out local breweries can be a win-win; you can take part in a tasting session and find some local history.

5. A Perfect Night’s Sleep

Sometimes the term ‘lodge park’ can paint the wrong picture in terms of how busy, and potentially noisy, your destination could be. The reality is there are thousands of lodge parks across the UK with the vast majority made up of smaller parks with fewer lodges on site. Not only that, lodge parks are rarely if ever built close-by to busy main roads or bustling areas of towns or cities. A good lodge park can be found in the hills or the countryside, far enough from civilisation to disconnect but close enough to know you’re not alone in the world. A smaller park in an ideal location can give you that perfect peace and quiet for a great night’s sleep.
