Half Term: Free Kids Travel in the Lakes
Here’s some great news for families looking to explore the Lakes without breaking the bank, or for those looking to leave the car at home.
Northern Rail have launched a promotional deal that allows children to travel on their services for free, from the beginning of half term right the way through to March 3rd, 2019. With the Lakes line connecting Kendal with Windermere operating a Northern service, this is sure to be welcome news for anyone looking to break away from their home routine and explore the great outdoors.
The deal is open for anyone with children aged 5 to 15 years old, with under-5s already able to travel for free on Northern services. A child ticket usually costs 50% of the full-price adult ticket, but this promotion goes one step further.
To claim your free child tickets, you’ll only be able to do so via the Northern website or mobile app, by using the code ‘KIDS’ when searching for fares. As stated on Northern’s terms and conditions, the offer is applicable to off-peak returns and advance sales, including advance tickets bought on the day of travel.
Of course this offer doesn’t limit you to the Lakes Line. As long as you use a Northern service, you can go wherever you please and enjoy the same discount. A day out exploring the shops in Lancaster or the historic beauty of Ulverston might be your preference, but Northern’s services also reach the likes of Glasgow to the North or Manchester to the South.
At a time where rail travel - particularly the cost of tickets - is under the microscope, promotions such as these are more than welcome, especially if it helps save a few pennies for a glass of your favourite tipple by the lake!
To take advantage of the offer before it disappears on March 3rd 2019, pop over to the Northern website and see where the world could take you!
