UK Short Breaks on the Rise - and the Lake District is a Top 3 Destination

The UK Holiday Trends Report for 2016 has revealed that the Lake District remains one of the most popular domestic locations for British holidaymakers, behind only the Scottish Highlands and Cornwall.

The annual survey, conducted by market research agency BDRC, revealed last year that the Lake District was the UK's most popular domestic getaway location for short breaks in 2015, and second for domestic holidays overall.

Record Numbers of British Travellers Choosing to 'Staycation' in the UK

In the wake of the UK's vote to leave the European Union, and following the drop in the value of the pound that came shortly after, British tourist boards have plenty to be pleased about with families showing a steady increase in holidaying at home.

According to figures released by Visit England in July, the number of people choosing to holiday in England hit 7.3 million during the first quarter of 2016 - a 10% rise compared to the same period last year.

Cumbria Hosts the Maryport Blues Festival this Weekend

Coming up on Friday July 29th through to Sunday 31st, the cosy Cumbrian town of Maryport will host its annual Rock and Blues festival in its 18th year.

Taking place inside a main marquee stage, outdoor stage and along a trail of various pubs and venues in the town, visitors can choose which of the 50 confirmed bands and artists they want to see most while taking in the local area and local festival atmosphere.
